KH6/WD5B and KH6/K5JU on the air - kinda

So, we contemplated various ways of putting up and antenna. The attempt right now is a dipole hung on the balcony/deck. It is very wide and we are up about 30 feet or so. You can just see the center insulator on the top part of the post. From there, the antenna goes to the ends of the deck for 20 meters. To operate lower bands, we clip on additional wire that goes down the sides of the deck. Not sure if this is best, but the roof appears wood and shingles and at our height you would think we could work something.

The bands are pretty dead here. Not surprising with the sunspots being so low. Would be nice to make a few contacts. We feel this location will be a lot better than when we go to Maui. We have not gone with help and 'prayers' with a mantis passing by the station to offer thoughts to the airwave gods.

The Condo

Here's a couple of pixs of our condo.

Our First Day....

So, after arriving in Kona, Hawaii we spend the first day with snorkle and whale watching.

The first run was just the beach in front of the condo for snorkling....

Then, after a lunch on the deck, we headed over for a whale watching tour. Captain Zodiac. You all know how I like zodiac and this'un was great. $120,000 with twin 150hp engines. 40mph on the water.

That was the adventure for the day.....
